Coach Steve Green joined Villanova Rugby in 2018 as he continues a long and storied rugby career in the area. Mr. Green has by his own admission played all forward positions except second row. His rugby story began at the University of Lynchburg, and continued as he played local men's rugby with Wissahickon RFC, Lighthorse RFC, and Second City Troop RFC for a combined 16 years. Not only did he play for these clubs but Steve Green helped found Second City Troop RFC in 1986, where he also served as president on and off for 8 years,. He also help found White Horse RFC in 2002. He received the Second City Troop Lifetime Member award as a result of his contributions to the club and to the game. Steve Green has been a coach at various Philadelphia area clubs. He served as the coach for the EPRU All-Stars in 2003, as the head coach for West Chester University from 2002-2011, and the North Penn Men's Rugby head coach from 2012-2016. In his first full season at Villanova University, Coach Green led the Wildcats to an undefeated regular season, a MARC Conference Championship, and a showdown in the Division 2 National Tournament Elite Eight.
